Today was our free day in Nice. I stayed up pretty late last night so it was wonderful to sleep in as late as I wanted this morning. Since it apparently poured rain all morning, I didn’t miss anything exciting by sleeping in (except the hotel breakfast). After I finally woke up, the rain was beginning to clear and sunny skies began to break through the clouds.
By the middle of the afternoon, almost all eighty of us were laying out on the beach enjoying the sun and the water. I loved spending more time with all of my new friends and getting a tan- I went from snow white to pasty white, so it was a good day.
Around dinner time Jessica, Hillary, and I decided that we needed to find something to eat. We ended up just getting a sandwich at Subway because we had been craving turkey (most sandwich places here don’t offer it) and because it’s one of the cheapest places in town. We took our sandwiches back to the beach to eat, then headed up to our rooms after we had had enough of the sun for one day.
I showered and started packing up my things, then took a short break to get one last crepe before we leave France. We walked into the Old Town area of Nice to a crepe place that had been recommended by some other girls on the trip. I ordered and ate my Nutella and powdered sugar crepe, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m going to have to find a crepe recipe and buy some Nutella when I get home to try to recreate the delicious French crepes that I’ve had while we’ve been here.
Then I headed back to my hotel room and spent the rest of the night packing up my things. It seems that with every city I get messier and it takes more time to repack my suitcase. It also didn’t help that the sun had gone down and our room was dark- many of the outlets in our room do not seem to work correctly, so we have one lamp trying to light our entire room.
Now I am all packed, have postcards written, and am excited to go to Italy tomorrow!
